Unit 6 Exam Review Materials

We have a test this week!  It will cover the topics in unit 6:

Rational Expressions - Variations, Adding/Subtracting/Multiplying/Dividing, Graphing, and Solving
Radical Expressions - Changing between Radical and Fractional Exponent form, Solving, and Simplifying

Here's the first page of the classwork from today.  They were definitely tricky.

The homework is to finish the graphs on the rest of the packet.  I will be collecting and grading the graphs (4 of them randomly) on Monday.

Algebra 2 Vacation Challenge!

While I hope that you have a relaxing and fun Spring break, I also hope that you keep math in the back of your mind.  In an effort to aid you, I am offering an extra credit project.

You must answer the following math problems.  HOWEVER, the answer will not be turned in on paper.  You must find a creative way to produce the answer that is related to how you're spending your vacation.  Some examples include, but are not limited to:

Writing the answer with a stick in sand on a beach.
Writing it on a napkin on a plane ride.
Writing the answer using Lego blocks or snack food.
Acting out the question dramatically.
Draw your answer in an artistically fancy way.

I will accept answers in the form of a digital image or video.  You may email your response to my school email at doranr@bsd405.org.  This is due BEFORE you return to school at 7:30 on 4/14.

Points.  1 point per problem for correctness.  1 point for being creative.  I will put any extra points wherever they are needed in your grade book.

Pre and Post Spring Break Classwork

The following assignment was done in class on 4/4.  It was practice with radicals and includes answers.  The challenge was to complete the questions and check the answers on the back.  Because we don't want fractional exponents or radicals in the denominators, we multiplied them out.  Also, #38 should be 256.

A Couple Geeky Things for the Start of April

First off:  I know there are some Pokemon fans out there, so here's an interesting article on finding your wild critters on Google Maps.

Also, I know a bunch of folks have been interested in my Iron Man progress for Emerald City Comic Con.  I also, made a Jor El costume from Man of Steel.  My wife dressed as Samus Aran and Pepper Potts in her rescue armor.
